3D Captcha Images
With the increased presence of spam bots that have the ability to get around captchas that some humans even have a hard time reading, captchas using 3D images appear to be a possible solution to the automated spam problem.
Since a human’s image scanning capability is much more advanced than any software algorithm created, at least for now, captcha visual challenges based on images instantly recognizable to a human pose a distinct advantage over garbled text pictures that many people often have a hard time comprehending.
Unfortunately even 3D captchas will not remain unbreakable forever; the ability for a maliciously attacking bot to recognize cues given in a captcha puzzle often depends on how large the image library is. If a 3D captcha image library is small, it will only be a matter of time and a few tweaks before a standard 2D processing program links like images, even if the images are taken from different viewpoints and perspectives.
Winning the war against automated spam takes vigilant attention to the new and innovative products available to prevent it. No matter what step ahead developers take, the captcha breakers will be one step behind them.
